Schools A guided tour in the Forestry Museum is a lesson in living history, during which the students will be acquainted with the life and work of forestry workers in an authentic environment. Within the woods, but still close to the city of Rovaniemi, the Forestry Museum is an ideal site for a group daytrip: the visit may for instance be combined with a cycling trip, and the museum has areas for eating pre-prepared picnic. Costs for Schools For schools from outside of Rovaniemi, admission is 2€ per student. Rovaniemi schools do not have to pay an admission fee. Tour cost is 80€ per group. Teachers and teaching assistants have free entry when entering with a schoolgroup. For visits booked outside of ordinary opening hours, a 50€ opening fee will be required. Open on Special Request for Schoolgroups The museum is normally open during summers and for special events during winter. School groups are welcome throughout the year. Contact and Bookings Contact us at info@lapinmetsamuseo.fi and we will design a visit that is just right for your group. Tips for Ensuring a Succesful Visit - Inform the group of where you are going and why. The Forestry Museum describes the history of Lappish forests from the late 1800s to the end of the 1960s. The topic is easy to integrate into several different subjects depending on viewpoint. Fitting subjects could for example include history, languages, environmental studies, sciences, arts, etc. We can also evaluate your group's needs together and decide on the best approach. - Both the museum buildings and the artefacts in them are unique specimens. It would be best to ensure that especially younger visitors are aware of this and know to treat them with respect. - The guide is there just for you. It is often good to agree beforehand to listen to the guide and to know that questions are welcomed and encouraged. - Ensure that you have enough time for the visit. For schoolgroups we recommend scheduling for at least an hour and a half for just the visit. Please take into account additional time that may be needed for eating, visiting the bathroom, and transportation to and from the site.
